Maestro Crawford comes to the Garden State Philharmonic directly from the conducting staff at the Metropolitan Opera with years of experience in conducting and vocal coaching.
With his skill, the talent of the Garden State Philharmonic musicians, and our dazzling soloists, you will hear selections from composers such as Leonard Bernstein and Puccini sung by opera stars Tami Swarz and Adam Klein, plus a piano solo of “Rhapsody in Blue.” “A Lincoln Portrait” by Aaron Copland will finish the evening.

Please Join the Garden State Philharmonic and Jersey City Ballet for two exciting performances of Peter and the Wolf, written by Serge Prokofiev in 1936. The Central Children’s Theatre director in Moscow commissioned Prokofiev to write a symphony for children. The resulting symphony utilizes distinctive instruments to tell the story of each character that the narrator, Peter, encounters on his journey.

The Garden State Philharmonic
MISSION: to present professional orchestral concerts of cultural and educational value and to foster related activities to encourage involvement in, and appreciation of, symphonic music.
The Garden State Philharmonic is a critically acclaimed professional orchestra that is the “Orchestra In Residence” at Ocean County College. In addition to the professional orchestra, the GSP sponsors a three-tiered Youth Orchestra program comprised of more than one hundred students between the ages of 8 and 21 and a Community Chorus. Through its concerts and musical outreach programs, the GSP has served over 20,000 people of all ages throughout the Jersey Shore and the State of New Jersey.
Comprised of professional musicians from New Jersey and New York, the Garden State Philharmonic presents a subscription series of professional orchestral concerts at the Grunin Center for the Arts, a concert series at Spring Lake Community Theatre, a yearly Messiah performance with the GSP Chorus, professional chamber music concerts, and recitals, and an open rehearsal series in Maplewood, NJ. Community engagement includes a “Meet the Music” concert series for young people ages 6-12, a free Fourth of July Concert, Monmouth University’s Summer Music and Arts Festival participation, and two performances yearly of the Youth Orchestras and Youth Chorus. In addition, for the past seven years, the GSP has partnered with the Atlantic City Ballet for Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Ballet at the Strand Theater in Lakewood, NJ.
The Garden State Philharmonic performs concerts in three counties, Ocean, Monmouth, and Essex, and is a cultural resource performing the best in symphonic music throughout the region and the state of New Jersey.
